Lust Stories 2 (2023)

After watching an anthology of stories in a film, comparisons are inevitable. Following the success of the first season of Lust Stories, this second season presents four more stories.

The first story, featuring Nina Gupta, Mrunal Thakur, and Angad Bedi, was painfully uncomfortable to watch. While attempting to depict an open society, feminism, and gender equality in sex, the story includes many unrealistic and awkward moments. The double meaning dialogues fail to amuse or hold any meaningful substance. Director R. Balki deliberately introduces a horny granny character, reflecting a questionable mindset of the filmmaker, far from realism.

Konkona Sen Sharma’s segment stands out as the best part of Lust Stories 2. This particular story portrays the complexity of human beings, full of flaws. It revolves around two women who secretly derive sexual pleasures from each other’s individual acts but are ready to confront and even harm each other in the next moment. Tillotama Shome and Amruta Subhash deliver powerful performances, stealing the show. In fact, this segment could have been the entire film in itself, and that would have sufficed.

The chemistry between Tamanna and Vijay Varma in the third story is limited, and the climax is predictable, dramatic, and ultimately meaningless. There are too many loose ends, leaving the story by Sujoy Gosh feeling out of place.

The fourth story, directed by Amit Sharma and featuring seasoned actors like Kumud Mishra and Kajol, proves to be entertaining. The build-up is promising, addressing a situation still prevalent in many households. The twist in the climax comes as a shocking surprise to the viewers.

Overall, Lust Stories 2 is a hit and miss experience, offering a bittersweet viewing journey with its varying segments.

Had there been no cinema, then this SharmaJiKaLadka would have died long ago. Out of food, sex and cinema this guy would always choose Cinema even if he would die virgin due to starvation.
